Meet Kainoa and Larry of The Kuki Man!

How would you describe your business/brand?
We are a business that specializes in all things Kuki! We enjoy being in the kitchen as we come up with wacky flavors that you wouldn’t consider in your traditional cookie.

What sparked the idea for your business?
Growing up I always had Cookie Corner from Kahala mall as a snack and quickly became my favorite treat. In 2020 when the pandemic gave me more free time I decided to try my hand at making my own cookies with a twist on it. Slowly started to sell them on Instagram at first and here we are now!

What do you wish you had known before you started your business?
I wish I had a little more experience in the culinary world since growing up I was heavily into athletics. I didn’t have much prior knowledge about ingredients and what role they play in a recipe. This caused me to have a lot of trial and error moments when first developing my Kuki but it’s all part of the experience!

What are you most proud of about your business?
I’m most proud of the time we’ve put in to get to where we are now despite not having any experience in food! We have learned a lot any and can only learn more to improve!

What do you love most about being a food entrepreneur?
Our favorite thing about being a food entrepreneur is that we get to taste test all these wild flavors and expand the taste buds of our customers!

What’s one piece of advice you have for other food entrepreneurs?
Don’t be afraid to fail! We’ve had multiple trial and error stages. Do not be discouraged! If you enjoy what you’re doing, keep at it!

What makes your business unique/special?
I think we’re unique because we don’t have any prior experience in food so the way we create our kukis and come up with flavors may be unconventional. We are open to the non traditional flavors to come up with new kukis.

What’s your best seller at the moment?
Our best sellers are our s’mores, pop tart, and chocolate chip kukis.

We decided to join Hana Kitchens because the facility is top notch and second to none.
